Extension hosts walking, nutrition program

By

Kingfisher County Extension hosted a “Walking with Ease” program combined with “Nutrition for Older Adults” for the members of the community every Tuesday and Thursday in February and through March 14.

Lindy Hoel, County Extension Family and Consumer Science educator, was the instructor.

She taught the group how to start slow with walking and increase their walking time as they became more comfortable.

During the walks, Hoel taught the participants about nutrition. She also provided the participants with materials on stretches for walking, tips to strengthen their joints and handouts for the nutrition information.

There were four participants where each patron walked at their comfortable speed and duration.

The next walking and nutrition information class will begin May 28. It will be at 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through July 2.

Classes will be held in the Exhibit Building at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

For more information about these programs and other events, contact Hoel at 405-375-3822.
