Fair starts Wednesday

By

The Kingfisher County Fair will start on Wednesday.

Kingfisher County Extension Director Bryan Kennedy said preparations are well under way.

The Oklahoma City State Fair has been canceled this year, thus the county fair may be the only place for county exhibitors to show their entries this fall.

“I’m just glad we are going to be able to hold it (the county fair),” he said, adding “it is difficult to determine how many entries to expect due to the confusion caused by COVID-19.”

“We are following Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations for patrons attending the fair.”

All livestock entries are due from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

There will be no pedal tractor pull or Farmhand Olympics this year.

Changes adopted to reduce the risk of Coronavirus spread include the following:

• All inside exhibits must be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, only. No drop offs will be allowed on Thursday.

•Exhibits must be pre-tagged with Division, Class Name and Town before they are dropped off to limit the amount of time spent in the building.

Tags and fair books are available at the Kingfisher County Extension Office in the courthouse annex.

•All judging will be closed to the public in the Exhibit Building, which will not open to the public until 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

•Masks and social distancing will be required inside the Exhibit Building and the number of people inside at any one time will be limited.

•Because it is a more open space, mask usage inside the MACenter is not required, but still strongly urged, along with social distancing.

•Booth rentals will not be available.

Those with questions are invited to contact the Kingfisher County OSU Extension Office at (405)375- 3822.
