Farmerettes hold February meeting
The Hennessey Farmerettes, an Oklahoma Home and Community Education group, met Feb. 27 in the home of Marge Patocka for its monthly meeting.
President Pansy Wheeler opened the meeting with 10 members present.
Kingfisher County Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator Lindy Peterman was a special guest at the meeting.
Those in attendance recited the pledge to the American flag and Jamie Akenhead read the OHCE objective.
Roll call was answered by members telling if they use homemade cleaning products.
Mary Curry gave the devotion “So Loved.”
Prayers were requested for several members of the group experiencing health issues.
Minutes of the January meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was given and approved.
Information regarding the district meeting on March 22 and Spring Council on March 4 was shared with the group.
Wheeler gave a report on the Memorial Fund Committee and Paula Nicholson and DeDee Krueger also provided information.
Forms for the Billie Melendy scholarship were distributed.
Wheeler, Akenhead and Nicholson shared information from a meeting they attended earlier in the day.
Wheeler presented the flower magnets she made for the district meeting.
It was announced that Wheeler was selected as the group’s “Member of the Year” honoree for the Hennessey Red Carpet Night.
Margie McConnell will provide the introduction for Wheeler at the event.
Maxine Helgeson was selected to represent the group as outstanding member for the state “Heart of OHCE” award.
Curry, Wheeler and Nicholson gave a lesson on green cleaning using commercial and homemade cleaning products.
Nicholson discussed and demonstrated the use of several homemade cleaning products.
Candy, Valentine cookies and cherry pie were served as refreshments.
Prior to the meeting, members assembled craft bags for youth at the Hennessey Library.
