Farrell, Ridenour named KHS Heisman High School winners
Mia Farrell and Maverick Ridenour were recently announced as the Kingfisher High School winners of the Heisman High School Scholarship competition.
The two were among more than 3,600 school winners selected nationwide from a pool of tens of thousands of applicants.
Their selection put them in the running for the state competition.
The Heisman High School Scholarship was established in 1994 by the Heisman Trophy Trust.
State winners this year will receive a $750 scholarship and qualify to become national finalists. All national finalists receive a $1,250 scholarship and the national winners earn a $5,250 scholarship.
To apply for this year’s honor, students must be a part of the graduating class of 2021, have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 or better, participate in at least one of 48 sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee and/or the National Federation of State High School Association and be a leader in the school.
Farrell is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named KHS Student of the Month, among several other honors.
She plays fastpitch and slowpitch softball and is the senior class reporter.
Ridenour is a part of the KHS basketball team.
He carries a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and is president of the KHS Student Council.
