February dances are finalized by the Hennessey Child Study Club
Marissa Choate updated members of the Hennessey Child Study Club about plans for the Friday, Feb. 7, Mother-Son Ball and the Saturday, Feb. 8, Father-Daughter Dance at the club’s Jan. 23 meeting.
She said each event will be held at the Hennessey Elementary School gym with hours for the mother-son gathering from 6-8 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. Saturday for the father-daughter dance.
She said the cost will remain the same, $15 per person, and that it will again include “desserts, dancing and lots of fun.”
This is the second year for the Mother-Son Ball and the fifth year for the Father-Daughter Dance.
As in the past, there will be a red carpet entrance and a photo booth, she told members at the meeting. Parents may call her for tickets (580-548-7575), she said, and added that moms and dads, grandparents or family role models are welcome to attend with their boy or girl.
Marissa Choate also said that there would be a donation jar set up both nights for the Whittenburg family’s medical expenses.
The Whittenburgs’ 11-year-old son, Logan, passed away in December and the club voted at an earlier meeting to donate to the family.
Members will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the elementary gym and were also asked to be at the gym at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, to help decorate.
Marilyn Buckner reported that she received applications for Girls State. The club will select two girls to attend Girls State May 24-29. The cost is $275 for each girl.
Darlene Caffey led the group in a memory game with Patsy Jackson and Marissa Choate winning.
Sheila Craun won the door prize.
President Rhonda Peach presided over the meeting and 15 members answered the roll called by Wanda Choate.
Jackson gave the devotional and Marissa Choate and Jennifer Hardin served a meal to members.
