Fed funds awarded for county road fix

Kingfisher County Commissioner Districts 1 and 2 have been approved to receive $99,300.41 in federal emergency relief for damage to the Dover-Crescent Road.

The damage occurred during 2019 flood events.

District 2 was approved for $55,454.67 and District 1 for $43,845.74. Commissioners approved the damage statement prepared by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation at their weekly meeting Monday.

The report listed costs of pipe, crusher rock, surge rock, shale, rip rap, ready mix and equipment usage necessary to repair the flood damaged road which begins in District 2 on the west side and continues in District 1 on the east side to the Logan County line.

District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny reported that his meeting with the contractor to perform the Downtown Okarche project, Schiralli Construction, will begin work there on March 30.

The company also has the contract on a project at the intersection of U.S. 81 and S.H. 33 in Kingfisher. The starting date for that project has been announced as mid-March.

Commissioners also approved monthly reports and appropriations for county offices and pipeline road crossing permits for four companies, all in District 3, as follow:

• McDonald Land Services — 16-inch and 12-inch water lines, eight miles west and one mile south of Kingfisher.

• Ovintiv Exploration — two temporary 12-inch water lines, one located five miles west and one mile south of Kingfisher and the other four miles west and one mile south of Kingfisher.

• Encana — New 12-inch water line four miles west of Kingfisher.

• Marathon Oil — fourinch water line located one mile east and two miles south of Omega.

Commissioners have several events on their calendar for the balance of March, including the District 8 CED (Circuit Engineering District) equipment auction on March 13 and 14, an ACCO (Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma) transportation information day Wednesday, a countywide safety meeting beginning at 8 a.m. March 19 at the fairgrounds in Kingfisher, a CED meeting March 24 at Alva and a commissioners’ professional training meeting Friday at El Reno.

All three commissioners District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek and Dobrovolny — were present for Monday’s meeting, as well as County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, County Engineer Nik Smith and Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray.
