Felony assault to commit rape filed against Hennessey man
A Hennessey man remains jailed on a $25,000 bond after allegedly assaulting a woman Feb. 8 with the intent to rape her.
Kenneth Ray Gross, 48, 206 Maple, Hennessey, pleaded not guilty Feb. 27 in Kingfisher County District Court to the charge of assault with intent to commit a felony (rape).
He was arrested Feb. 8 after a Hennessey woman reported to the Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office about 6:40 p.m. that Gross had attacked her earlier in the day.
According to an affidavit signed by Kingfisher County Sheriff Todd Davis, the woman reported that Gross had pinned her down against her will and covered her mouth when she tried to scream.
The woman said she bit his hand and refused when he told her to take her clothes off, according to the affidavit. Gross let the woman up when she started crying but allegedly continued to rub her leg “seductively” while masturbating and then demanded oral sex, which the woman refused.
Gross then allegedly attacked the woman again, pulling her legs and covering her mouth when she started screaming, according to the affidavit. The woman said she hit and scratched him, again trying to get away.
The woman said Gross finally let her go when she promised she wouldn’t tell anyone. She was able to phone a friend and asked him to call her mother before running to a neighbor’s house, according to the affidavit.
Gross was interviewed at the sheriff’s office about 11 p.m. the same night, after coming in voluntarily, according to the affidavit.
Deputies observed scratches on his arm and hand, which Gross said came from a pallet at work, and broken skin and bruising on the palm of his hand, which Gross said came from falling on ice at work, according to the affidavit.
Gross said he works nights and that he had been sleeping during the day and denied having any physical contact or altercation with the alleged victim, according to the affidavit.
He was arrested and jailed at that time.
If convicted, Gross faces up to five years in prison or up to one year in the county jail and a fine of up to $500.
