Five Hennessey boys ages 13-14 were found guilty of petty larceny and destruction of personal property Nov. 19 in Hennessey Municipal Court before Judge Jim Long.
Each boy was fi ned $535 on each of the two charges, placed on six-month probation and required to make restitution, said Hennessey Lt. Mike Jones, who worked the case.
The theft took place at about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 on a basketball court outside the Cristo Rey Baptist Church, 219 E. Second St.
The five teenagers stole a bluetooth speaker from another 14-year-old boy then destroyed it, and placed it in a dumpster at the football field, said the offi cer.
A grandparent of the victim notifi ed police.
Jones said the victim’s family requested that the case be heard in municipal court instead of district court so that the charges would not go on the boys’ permanent records.
Police did not release the names of those involved since they are all juveniles.
