Giving Santa a Helping Hand
SANTA’S TOYLAND, a decades-long Kingfisher County tradition, passed this year from under the umbrella of the Kingfi sher County Department of Human Services to the Kingfisher Community Collaborative, which made the magic happen for 207 children from 70 families. With the cooperation of the City of Kingfisher, local churches, other organizations and individual volunteers who donated money, time and gifts, KCC members shopped for, organized and operated the local event, which allowed qualifying parents to choose nice gifts and stocking stuffers to take home and wrap for each of their children. Organizations, churches, businesses and individuals also continued the tradition of “adopting” local families for the holidays, providing gifts for every family member as well as holiday food and treats. “As always, we are so appreciative of all the help we received to keep this important service active for the families who need it,” Brittney Hladik, KCC co-chair, said.
