Kingfisher High School senior Dawson Diedrich holds the gold ball that represents the 2021 Class 4A boys basketball state championship. The Kingfisher Yellowjackets earned their third gold ball in five seasons on Saturday after defeating Heritage Hall 48-40 at State Fair Arena. There weren’t many opportunities for a student section or even cheerleaders during the COVID-affected 2020-21 basketball season, but the state tournament was one opportunity for the cheerleaders and “The Hive” to make their presence felt. After the medal and trophy ceremony, members of the basketball team and coaches posed with the groups and their hardware.
