GOPs vie for Sanders’ seat
The question of who will replace long-time District 59 State Rep. Mike Sanders will be decided in the June 30 primary election.
Two Republicans – Mike Dobrinski of Okeene and Adam Masters of Kingfisher – filed last week for Sanders’ District 59 House seat, which encompasses Kingfisher County and a large swath of Western Oklahoma.
Sanders (R-Kingfisher) completes his sixth term of office in December, after rising through the ranks in the Legislature’s Republican Caucus to his current role as House Majority Leader.
Sanders is barred from seeking an additional term by state term limits and has yet to make an official announcement as to what his next step will be.
Races also developed for other state and federal offices during the three-day filing period last week.
