Harris updates Altrua Club on planned renovation
The Altrua Club met Sept. 16, at the Chisholm Trail Museum.
Members present were Keri Bivins, Carolyn Flood, Dana Golbek, Jneanne Kadavy, Jeanette Kloeppel, Terri Peck, Sue Robinson, Jowanna Sisk, Cheryl Wheelbarger and Dorothy Whitaker.
Wheelbarger, president, conducted the meeting and Peck served as hostess.
Jason Harris, museum director, gave an update on the chuckwagon dinner that was held Oct. 3.
He said nearly all the tickets for the grab-and-go event had been sold as of Sept. 16.
He also gave an update on the renovation plans for the museum and the mansion.
They are working on finalizing plans and the 12-month project should get started late summer or early fall of 2021, he said.
Harris pointed out that the current photo display is “Wanted Dead or Alive” and the next one would be a map display about mapmaking.
Peck presented the program about exercise and, more specifically, yoga.
She emphasized that exercise is important and “doing anything is better than nothing.”
Peck pointed out that yoga is a good form of exercise as it helps blood flow, improves balance and has deep spiritual meaning. She showed the members several of the basic moves and said there are many videos available to learn yoga.
The next meeting will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Chisholm Trail Museum.
Kadavy will be hostess and Golbek is in charge of the program.
