By

Kingfisher County’s official tally of COVID-19 related deaths climbed to 12 for 2020 in the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s last situation update of the year.

OSDH data Thursday showed two additional deaths reported for the county, a female in the over 65 age group and a male aged 50-64.

Recent obituaries suggest additional COVID-19 related deaths in the county that have not yet made it into the state data base.

(OSDH does not identify decedents by name and the Times & Free Press only does so when the death is confirmed by a family member.)

A total of 124 active cases were reported in the county at year’s end, with 1,357 total confirmed cases for the year and 1,221 recoveries, according to OSDH numbers for Thursday.

Data reported Dec. 31 for local zip codes include:

Cashion - 29 active cases (183 confirmed, 154 recovered).

Dover - 1 active case (74 confirmed, 2 deaths, 71 recovered).

Hennessey - 36 active cases (463 confirmed, 3 deaths, 424 recovered).

Kingfisher - 55 active cases (535 confirmed, 3 deaths, 477 recovered).

Loyal - 6 active cases (26 confirmed, 20 recovered).

Okarche - 10 active cases (156 confirmed, 4 deaths, 142 recovered).

Omega - no active cases (12 confirmed and recovered).

Data reported for surrounding counties Thursday includes:

Canadian County — 930 active cases (10,582 confirmed, 52 deaths, 9,600 recovered).

Garfield County — 414 active cases (5,394 confirmed, 43 deaths, 4,937 recovered).

Logan County — 339 active cases (2,547 confirmed, 8 deaths, 2,200 recovered).

Blaine County — 75 active cases (550 confirmed, 3 deaths, 582 recovered).

Statewide, 36 new COVID-19 related deaths were reported Dec. 31, bringing the total for the year to 2,489.

A total of 290,936 cases have been confirmed in the state, 32,604 of which are currently active and 255,843 are reported recovered.

A total of 2,877,309 COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state since the start of the pandemic, with 2,669,170 negative results, according to OSDH numbers.

Currently, 1,924 people are hospitalized with confirmed infections and 17,059 cases have been hospitalized cumulatively for the disease.

Vaccinations are still being administered to hospital and nursing home personnel and residents and are expected to be available to those over 65 later in January and then to the general public at designated sites.
