The Hennessey school board made quick work last week on 12 of 14 personnel items after more than an hour in closed session. It was No. 13 that caused a snag…and two votes: Approval of extra duty assignments.

Cristopher Choate motioned not to approve, Luke Lough made the second, but it failed 3-2 with President Patrick Griffin, Vice President Dr. James M. Matousek and Joe Garrison voting no.

Then Matousek and Garrison teamed up to make a motion to approve that passed 3-2.

There were no comments during the meeting about the “no” votes.

When the board came out of closed session, Griffin said HHS principal Angela Avila and Paul Hix, new athletic director and head football coach, joined the early portion of their executive session.
