Hennessey board makes two changes to pool plans
Hennessey town board members were told overhead lighting must be included in their new pool plan before the state Health Department can approve it so work can begin.
Members approved that $40,000 addition in a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
They also voted to add a privacy wall and double hollow metal doors instead of a privacy fence to cover the pump. That cost is $33,503.
Those costs weren’t included in the $2.1 million bid by Carrothers Construction, or the sales tax vote to pay for the pool, said new board member Richard Simunek.
“So, how will we pay for it?” he asked.
“Capital outlay funds,” said Tiffany Tillman, town administrator.
She said before they learned of the lighting requirement they’d planned to put in overhead lighting after it was built so it would match lighting in the existing parking lot.
“There were 28 other minor items that (the Health Department said) had to be changed,” Tillman said.
“We will be able to turn off the lighting at night,” she said, as opposed to the 24/7 lighting in the parking area.
Mayor Bert Gritz said he preferred it be on during the nighttime.
Tillman said they will have security cameras at the pool, the park and the parking lot.
Gritz asked if it would be LED lighting.
Tillman said she didn’t know.
“LED lighting is more cost-effective,” said Vice Mayor Clif Vogt.
“I’m glad to see they are moving in more equipment at the pool site,” said Gritz.
