Hennessey drivers hurt in accident

By

Both drivers were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday a half mile south of Hennessey on U.S. 81.

Mannie J. Turner, 78, and Stormie P. Ritchie, 26, both of Hennessey, were transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, where both were admitted in stable condition, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol news release.

Stanley S. Jones, 33, of Hennessey, a passenger in Ritchie’s vehicle, also was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s, where he was treated and then released.

Turner was traveling west on Oakwood Drive in a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck when he allegedly failed to yield at the stop sign, according to the OHP release.

He allegedly turned into the path of a northbound 2007 Buick Lucerne driven by Ritchie, which collided with the driver’s side of Turner’s pickup truck.

Seatbelts were in use in Ritchie’s vehicle, but Turner was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

The accident was investigated by OHP Trooper Kevin Edsall of the Kingfi sher County detachment, assisted by Hennessey police and fire departments and Life EMS.
