Hennessey Farmerettes hold October gathering
Hennessey Farmerettes met Oct. 10 at the home of Lily Rourke.
President Billie Melendy opened the meeting by leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mary Curry, Jaimie Akenhead, Margie McConnell, Melendy, Dot Miller, Kathy Patocka and Rourke answered roll call answering the question “What have you recycled out of fabric or other materials?”
Curry, chaplain, read the article “Value of the Penny.” McConnell, secretary, read minutes of the September meeting which were approved as read.
Akenhead, treasurer, gave the financial report and accepted labels to submit for reimbursement.
Club members filled out paperwork and paid yearly dues.
It was related that Norma States was feeling better, but continues convalescing and Doyle Miller had gone to the Hennessey Care Center to recover after surgery.
Discussion was made of plans for the Christmas outing and it was agreed to go to the Hawks’ animal farm at Enid and dine together afterward at a destination to be decided later.
Fall Council was Monday, Oct. 14, and two members discussed plans to attend. A barn quilt painting class at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds was also discussed.
There is to be a Hennessey Health Incentive program coming up at the Hennessey Public Library. On Nov. 7, there will be a program on healthy shopping at the grocery store and on Nov. 1 a checks and balances program.
This year’s district OHCE meeting will be held at Fairview with Kingfisher County responsible as hostesses.
Curry, the lesson leader, presented the lesson “This Into That” regarding turning old garments and fabrics and other items into things new and different.
Curry, an avowed crafter, showed many of her crafted items some dating from earlier married years and her talents having expanded over the years.
The meeting was adjourned and Curry served candy, nuts, beverages, pumpkin roll and chocolate cake.
Members socialized afterward.
Akenhead won the quarter drill. The next meeting will be with Dot Miller serving as hostess.
