Hennessey Farmerettes hold regular meeting
Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Eat Em’ Up banquet room for its regular monthly meeting.
Members attending were Mary Curry, Jamie Akenhead, Billie Melendy, Dot Miller, Lily Rourke, Margie Connell and Kathy Patocka.
Roll call was answered with many varied responses to: “What do you do to help your brain?”
The meeting was opened by Melendy, president, leading the pledge of allegiance.
Curry, chaplain, gave the reading “The Masks of Friendship.”
Connell, secretary, read the minutes of the August meeting that were approved as read.
Akenhead gave the treasurer’sreport.Shehadgiven $25 each to the Hennessey 4-H Club, the senior center and the Hennessey Care Center and had received a thank-you note from Betty Tyree, care center activity director, thanking the club for the gift.
Miller told of the Hennessey 4-H entertainment program featuring a well-known Swiss pianist and having a prime rib dinner which was attended by Rourke, Patocka and herself.
She also told of individual participation by club members at the county free fair.
Akenhead’s pumpkin earned a blue ribbon as did Miller’s jack o’ lantern. Miller also earned ribbons for her pears and apples.
Discussion was held on re-election of officers for another year with agreement to consider it at the next meeting.
Melendy motioned the meeting to adjourn.
Akenhead, also the hostess and lesson leader, gave the lesson on “Steps to a Healthy Brain” with handouts.
Afterwards, Akenhead served tea, water and members’ choice of creme brulee cheesecake or chocolate cheesecake.
Members visited and caught up on news of friends, family, vacations, trips, etc.
Rourke won the quarter drill.
The next meeting will be with Curry and Rourke at Rourke’s home.
