Hennessey Golden Eagles talk fundraiser for center, December cookie exchange
Needed “updates” to the town-owned Community Center facility were discussed at the Nov. 4 meeting of the Golden Eagles.
That group meets at the center at 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of each month and this month it was suggested that the carpeting should be replaced, along with other possible interior changes.
President Shirley Koons said during some cleaning and clearing, they’d discovered a kiln and greenware in a storage room.
Then the group discussed finding someone who’d be interested in starting pottery-making classes.
Rental of the Center
There was discussion about families and school reunions that have been held at the Community Center. It was also mentioned that the rental cost is reasonable and also includes use of the kitchen.
The rental cost is $100 a day, Town Clerk Shelley Burch said when contacted after the meeting. She said there is a refund of $50 when it is left in good condition.
Reservations must be made at Town Hall.
Cookie Exchange Next Month
The Golden Eagles will have a cookie exchange at the next meeting, which is Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Members are to bring two dozen cookies for that event.
Lunch at the Center
Most of the 20 members at this month’s meeting stayed for lunch, or opted for to-go meals.
In addition to Koons, also at this month’s meeting were: Anna Jo Burge, Ope Blalock, Lanita Killian, Jenae Swart, Doris Klutts, Marge Patocka, Kathy Patocka, Glenna Roder, Pansy Wheeler, Kelly Choate, Nancy Fisher, Denise Brim, Margie McConnell, Theresa Helm, Doris Schultz, Carolyn Deaton, Betty Kay, Beatrix Barr and Barb Walter.
