Hennessey library receives Health Literacy Grant
Hennessey Mayor Bert Gritz and Library Director Ruth Ann Replogle are all smiles over the town’s $3,750 Health Literacy Grant from the State Department of Libraries and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant will fund adult and youth programs to encourage healthy eating and physical activity and was also awarded to 30 other library sites. The Hennessey Hero Series for adults starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the 525 S. Main St. library. The series, “How to Sneak Veggies into Your Daily Diet,” will continue through March with classes taught by nutrition and fitness experts. Classes are free in partnership with the library, OSU Extension Office and Hennessey’s 4-T’s Family Market. A 10-week youth program will be part of the summer reading program that starts Monday, May 18. “A Hero’s Journey” will encourage youngsters to participate in a series of health and fitness activities. Those free classes are partnered with Finer Physiques of Enid.More info: Hennessey Public Library Facebook or www.hennessey.lib.ok.us [ KT&FP photo by Barb Walter]
