Head to Hennessey’s Rodeo Arena Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16-17, for two nights of regulation rodeo events.

Hennessey Roundup Club members say there will be kid-friendly events each night with mutton bustin’, dummy roping, calf scrambles and greased pig contests.

Kid events start at 7 p.m. with $5 entry fee for bustin’ and roping. First-, second-and third-place prizes in dummy roping only.

Other rodeo fans should enter the arena by 7:30 p.m. for an 8 p.m. rodeo start.

The arena is located at 122 N. Arapaho St.: Take U.S. Highway 81 to the stoplight then west on Oklahoma Avenue and south on Arapaho.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for ages 6-12. Concessions will be on site.

A dance will be held Saturday night after the rodeo at Cow Palace north of the arena. Rodeo admission gets you in to the dance.

Rodeo events and entry fees: Saddle bronc riding, $65; Ranch bronc riding, $65; Tie down calf roping, $65; Breakaway roping, $45; Jr. barrel racing, $40; Sr. barrel racing, $50; Team roping, $40 per man; Bull riding, $65; Steer wrestling, $65.

There is $500 in added money for regulation events, and money will be added to steer wrestling if there are enough entries.

Rough stock is provided by Phil Sumner and steers by Max Vincent.
