Hennessey principal takes Chisholm job

Angela Avila, Hennessey High and Mid-School principal, was hired as the 2021-22 high school principal for the Chisholm Public Schools during the board’s Wednesday night meeting in Enid.

Avila was rehired by the Hennessey board in February to keep the dual principalship job she’d had for the past three years. She was the high school principal two years before that, and coached girls basketball her first year at Hennessey.

Hennessey’s board will meet Monday night and their agenda posted Thursday afternoon does not list action on hiring a high school principal, but does call for discussion and possible action to employ a middle school principal for the coming school year.

That agenda also calls for action to change Hennessey’s Lower Elementary from Pre-K through 5th Grades to Pre-K through 4th Grades and Hennessey’s Upper Elementary from 6th through 8th grades to 5th through 8th grades for the coming school year.

After an executive session to discuss the employment of certified personnel for the coming year, the board is to act on the rehiring of: Emily Bellinger, Taylor Black, Cheyenne Baxter, Patrick Courtney, Kayla Grellner, Paul Hix, Brady Johnson, Jenna Matousek, Chelsey McArthur, Ragen Newman, Nathaniel Parker, Heather Russell, Randi Simpson, Amy Sheltie and Stacy Ward.

Also listed as certified personnel, but to be rehired on temporary contracts, are Maribeth Boettler, Lezlie Hardin, Amanda Luper and Doreen Winn.
