Hennessey school board votes to rehire superintendent, principals

By
Barb Walter

All four Hennessey Public School administrators were rehired last Monday night after a  two-hour executive session.

Rehired are Supt. Dr. Mike Woods; high and middle school principal Angela Avila; elementary school principal Barry Crosswhite, and early-childhood principal Stacey (Lee) Schovanec.

Avila was the only principal present at the

Feb. 11 meeting.  She routinely attends meetings.

All votes were unanimous.

Woods is in his third year as superintendent and the board voted to continue his contract for one year.

Avila is also in her third year as principal here and in her first year as both the middle school and high school administrator. She coached high school girls basketball her first year as principal.

Crosswhite, a 1987 HHS grad, is in his sixth year as principal.

Schovanec, a 1988 HHS grad, is in her fifth year here and her first year as the early childhood principal. She was the middle school principal for the previous four years.

In other personnel matters, the board voted to hire Allison Hurst as an after-school tutor at $20 an hour. She is also a mid-high school math teacher.

All members of the board were present for the February meeting: President Cristopher Choate, Vice President Patrick Griffin, Clerk Joe Garrison, Dr. James Matousek and Luke Lough.
