Hennessey town board gets reports on projects, more
Hennessey’s board of trustees received an update on several projects Thursday during its June regular meeting.
“Grant projects are progressing,” Town Administrator Tiffany Rowen told trustees.
“But, some are waiting on funding, or bid processes,” she said, then she ticked off info on these projects:
• Mitchell Road paving – She said they’d start that project as soon as they get the state funds for that Municipal Road Drilling Activity Grant.
• Automated meter reading program includes installing a tower – Bid information was sent to the newspaper for publishing. The process is being extended to ensure a wider outreach and the town plans to do the work themselves, she said.
• Bulk water station – Contracts have been signed and a pre-construction meeting will be held at the end of the month (pending a date confirmation) on that REAP Grant project.
• Swimming pool – Awning over the pumps has been completed.
Pool Party Dates Are Booked Up, But …
The swimming pool only has one pool party date not booked (Aug. 8), Rowen told the board.
However, she said they are going to open up parties on Monday and Wednesday nights from 8:30 to 10:30.
More Meeting Space Needed Rowen suggested that the board needs more space for its meetings.
Holding the meetings at the fire station was suggested and parking was questioned.
Also meeting at the Senior Center was suggested, but Rowen said they didn’t have internet there. It would be required because board members are provided computers for use at meetings.
Then Trustee Bert Gritz said he preferred to stay at Town Hall because it’s convenient to the staff and having office information and equipment readily available.
Mayor Randy Bohnstedt and Vice Mayor John Peach agreed.
Trustees Harold Shaw and David Jones did not attend this month’s meeting.
Gritz suggested they consider taking down the wall at the south end of their current meeting room.
That room is currently used for storage and was once used by Judge Bob Lovell and other members of the community for morning coffee.
Rowen was asked to check on the cost and feasibility of removing the wall.
