Hennessey United board sets date for annual Legacy Foundation dinner

By
Barb Walter

Hennessey United’s Legacy Foundation Chairman Scott Hajek said there will be a dinner for prospective Legacy Fund donors Wednesday, May 8.

That’s a date change, he told the United board at its March 28 meeting. He said the meeting will be arranged by Enid’s Stride Bank (formerly Central National Bank).

The foundation board has already received one $10,000 donation and information on that will be released later.

Board members present at the meeting were Dagan Hardin (president), Barb Walter (vice president), Tammy Henderson (treasurer), Cathy Howard (secretary), Kaden Mitchell (high school representative), Teresa Oliver and Hajek. Also present was Angela Bruner, who is setting up the organization’s web page.

Save the date for the group’s ninth annual Wine & Chocolate Festival was also discussed. The event is Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1-6 p.m. at Memorial Park, and at least 20 wineries are expected to participate again this year.

Wes Hardin (405-853-0115) will continue as chairman and as space is limited, the board agreed that wine tables will be available only on a first-come basis.

Dagan Hardin and Mitchell said they are working on getting the large flower pots ready to put on each corner on Main Street.

Mitchell said he is waiting to hear from town hall about the size of the flag poles so he can check prices for flags. Members told him they thought the town would pay for the flags.

Mitchell also told about his experience as a page for Sen. Chuck Hall.

Plans were finalized for the April 11 Red Carpet Night awards program recognizing Hennessey’s outstanding community volunteers.

The board’s next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Eat It Up Banquet Hall.
