Hennessey firefighters will host their annual Open House and BBQ dinner Saturday at the fire station north of the Hennessey Public Library on Main Street.

It will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. and families are encouraged to bring their children to check out the fire trucks, and have a meal of pork loin, fried potatoes, baked beans and ice cream.

There will also be a medical helicopter there, “weather and call volume permitting,” say planners.

“The event is to thank members of the community and surrounding area for their support,” said Fire Chief Bert Gritz.

Drawings for free T-shirts will be made throughout the evening.

Donations will be accepted, but are not required.

Volunteer firefighters will prepare and serve the meal.
