2020 homecoming plans (mostly) stick to KHS tradition

By

Kingfisher High School’s student council has planned a busy roster of homecoming activities this week, scaled back only slightly to accommodate coronavirus protocols.

Social distancing restrictions prevent the Friday afternoon school assembly at the APB, so festivities kick off with the downtown parade at 4 p.m. Friday, traveling south from Walter Building Center.

The parade includes the Pride of Kingfisher marching band, along with floats and vehicles carrying the Yellowjacket football teams, sports and club royalty and local clubs and organizations.

The deadline is Wednesday to request a slot in the parade lineup and organizations can do so by contacting student council sponsor Amy Pearson at apearson@kingfisher. k12.ok.us.

Al l school royalty for football, basketball, wres-tling, organizations and classes will be recognized on the football field Friday night, prior to the football homecoming coronation.

This year’s football homecoming queen candidates include: Angelica Orozco, Britt Taylor, and Maricza Lopez. Football captains are: Cade Stephenson, TJ Parker, and Tate Taylor.

Junior attendants are Josh Rother, the son of Carl and Julie Rother, and Kendra Ponce, the daughter of Eddie and Carina Ponce.
