HPS board votes to rehire 54 teachers
The Hennessey Board of Education rehired 54 teachers and four other positions at its regular March meeting last Monday in the Seminar Room at the HPS Auditorium.
All board members were present: President Patrick Griffin, Vice President Dr. James M. Matousek; Clerk Luke Lough; Joe Garrison and Cristopher Choate.
After 45 minutes in executive session to discuss employment of certified personnel and extra-duty assignments for next year, the board voted 4-0 to rehire 54 teachers.
Matousek left before the board returned to open session because he had to go pull a calf.
The only extra-duty vote was 3-1 to assign head football coach Paul Hix as athletic/activities director for 2020-21.
Choate cast the lone dissenting vote.
