HPS Eagle Event Center walking trail opens soon
The second-story walking trail inside the Hennessey Public Schools Eagle Event Center will be open to Hennesseyites starting the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 2, Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods announced Thursday morning.
Hours are 6-9 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and “we will adjust times as the need dictates,” he said.
There is no admission to use the walking trail.
Sign up in advance, or on first night
Walkers/runners may sign up in advance at the administration office on the southeast side in the center, also known as The Dome, or at the same time they come to walk.
They will be given a lanyard with their name and emergency contact on it and will sign in at The Dome each time they walk, Woods said.
The schools and administration building will be closed Nov. 23-28 for Thanksgiving break and the best time to sign up there is Monday or Tuesday, Nov. 30 or Dec. 1.
Rules for use
Rules for use of the facility include:
• No one allowed on gym floor, or allowed to bring food, but they may bring drinks.
• No unattended children will be allowed, but “they could bring their kids if they stay with the parent, and again, they are not allowed on gym floor.”
The policy on basketball game nights “is a work in progress but a tentative yes” for walkers those nights.
However, they need to have their lanyard in advance to get in, the superintendent said.
