Jech to head Senate rules committee
State Sen. Darcy Jech has been chosen to chair the Senate Rules Committee.
Jech, R-Kingfisher, was appointed to the chairmanship by Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City.
The Senate Rules Committee primarily handles legislative policy relating to election laws, ethics, administrative rule procedure and proposed constitutional amendments.
“The Rules Committee deals with legislation that represents the nuts and bolts of our representative democracy,” Jech explained. “It’s complex but important work.”
In addition to serving as chair of the Rules Committee, Jech also chairs the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources, and is also vice chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also holds seats on the Senate Energy Committee and the Public Safety Committee. In addition, Jech is the leader of the Senate’s Rural Caucus.
“I want to thank Pro Tempore Treat for this appointment. Each of these assignments helps me be an even stronger voice for District 26 and for rural Oklahoma,” Jech said.
“I look forward to working with my fellow members in the coming weeks as all our committees begin the work of deciding which legislation gives us the best opportunity to address the challenges facing our state and help us build a brighter future for Oklahoma.”
