July 4 plans under way in Hennessey

Hennessey’s Lions Club will continue to be in charge of Fourth of July plans in Hennessey, and the Town of Hennessey will again supply the annual fireworks show.

The town will also offer free admission to the new pool that day from noon-6 p.m. and reopen at 7 p.m., said Tiffany Tillman, town administrator. Pool games are also planned.

Lions Club member Tim Riddle was at a recent planning meeting and will coordinate all other events, she said.

All events will be held at the aquatic pool center and park on Mitchell Road, across from the schools.

Items planned include: – Patriotic music/pro

– Patriotic music/program (need help in planning)

– Food trucks/vendors (sign up at All About Hennessey FB)

– Picnic tables, canopies/tents for shade (Hennessey United Association, Stacy Cline)

– Flags at park and around town (Trail Life, Chad Hurst)

– Turtle races (Keith Meek)

– Water kickball (Tyson Copeland)

– Cornhole contests (Damian Hugaboom) – Dunk tank (contact Dover).

Others present at the meeting were Jimmy Berkenbile, Jack Quirk, Angela Bruner and town board members Bert Gritz, Clif Vogt, Wes Hardin, Richard Simunek and Meek.
