Kaci Farrar seeks city board seat
[Editor’s Note: Kaci Farrar has authorized the Times & Free Press to announce her candidacy for the Kingfisher City Commission, subject to the April 6 municipal election.]
Kaci Farrar lives in Kingfisher with her husband Tanner Farrar where they spend their free time farming and flying and chasing after their two sons, Maddox and Steel Farrar.
Kaci is the executive director of Countrywood Assisted Living and Memory Care and Tanner is the Chief Pilot for Atwoods, in addition to providing flight instruction in Kingfisher.
Kaci attended SWOSU in Weatherford, where she received her bachelor of science in 2014. She went on to obtain her masters in business administration as well as a masters in healthcare management from WGU in 2016. Directly out of grad school, she began working as a child welfare specialist for Kingfisher County Department of Human Services.
“I have a servant’s heart. Aside from being a mother, it is the most rewarding thing I have ever done...it was also the most difficult. Working with Kingfisher’s most vulnerable, I have found my calling. I started out advocating for our children and supporting families in need and then I transitioned to our elderly.”
After obtaining her nursing home administrator’s license in 2019, Kaci accepted the position of executive director at Countrywood, not knowing that six months into her first year she would be faced with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If anyone ever wondered how I perform under pressure, they have their answer now. The healthcare and longterm care industryhavebeenturnedupside down by COVID-19 and those of us working the front lines every day have been faced with this inconceivable responsibility.
“I have been blessed to work alongside amazing first responders and healthcare professionals in Kingfisher since I began my career here at Mercy Hospital in 2014. We have clung to and supported one another, drawing from each other’s strength throughout this time in our history.”
“I have devoted the past seven years of my life to serving the Kingfisher community, through the Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program and Altar Society, child welfare and the Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Response Team, home health and longterm care.
“My experience in our great city has given me incredible insight into the impact that government has on small business as well as the social and economic realities that the citizens of Kingfisher face, from the most vulnerable to the most successful. That’s why I’m running.
“I feel that I am uniquely qualified to identify the possible risks and benefits city government decisions will have on a broader spectrum of its people.
“As a mother and a wife and a businesswoman in Kingfisher, I believe female representation in our city government is extremely important. If elected, it is my hope to learn from our existing group of outstanding commissioners, and to use my knowledge and skill set to help them in their mission to further progress Kingfisher as a vibrant, safe, and successful community.”
