Kingfisher High School seniors Prairie Kaya and Maverick Ridenour have been named the Junior Lions for April 2021.

Kaya is the daughter of Kurt Kaya and Shel Wagner.

She’s active in Student Council, High School Leadership Conference, the KHS concert and marching bands and academic quiz bowl team.

Kaya is founder and president of both the EcoClub and Dead Poets Society at KHS.

She also serves as stage manager for the drama department, co-editor in chief of The Stinger newspaper and is a senior member of the KHS History Club.

She’s a member of the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society, listed on the superintendent’s honor roll, was named to the all-area honor band and was recently named an Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic All-State Award winner, among several other accomplishments.

Kaya plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in dramaturgy and history Ridenour is the son of Travis and Angelita Ridenour.

He’s active in basketball and tennis and serves as the Student Council president.

He’s a member of the National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society and has earned the 4.0 Award.

Ridenour was a member of the 2019 and 2021 KHS boys basketball state championship teams and was recently named Oklahoma Coaches Association Academic All-State.

He plans to attend Link Year Prep, a fifth-year post-graduate program, and pursue a collegiate offer to play basketball.
