Kester educates Study Club during January meeting
Kingfisher Study Club met Jan. 8 in the Sherry Blair home with Linda Randall as co-hostess.
President Melda Fischer opened the meeting reading from “Live and Learn and Pass It On” then asked the 14 members present to answer roll telling something they had learned in life.
Gerry Plummer introduced Rise Kester, APRNCNP, CNS, who shared with the group the importance of having a wellness exam yearly.
Kester shared information regarding the changes in health care and the importance to monitor and control health issues that will enable us to “live well and live long.”
Minutes were read, Terri Peck made a motion to approve and Plummer seconded before the motion passed.
The treasurer’s report was given and approved.
Peck made a motion to keep financial records for five years and Donna Lann seconded. The motion passed.
In unfi nished business, Plummer made a motion to host the Senior Girls’ Tea at the First United Methodist Church. Linda Randall seconded and the motion passed.
Dana Golbek will contact individuals mentioned during the meeting as possibilities for entertainment.
Peck reported the group will go to El Reno for lunch at the Our Glass Restaurant Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The group will meet in the parking lot of the former Methodist church at 10:30 a.m.
Section leaders will contact members Jan. 26.
In new business, Fischer appointed the Nominating Committee: Peck and Nancy Cravens.
The meeting closed with the Club Women’s Collect.
Members present were Blair, Cravens, Fischer, Golbek, Carlene Gooden, Virginia Hellwege, Donna Lann, Clarietta Lowe, Peck, Plummer and Randall.
The next meeting will be Feb. 5 with Connie Boeckman serving as hostess and Nancy Hasenfratz as co-hostess.
