KGC rated one of state’s best public courses

By

Kingfisher Golf Course was recently rated as one of the top public courses in the state according to a comprehensive review of ratings and reviews.

Kingfisher’s course was ranked No. 8 when the Golfers’ Choice list was released by Golf Advisor.

“The annual Golfers’ Choice lists compiled by the Golf Advisor community are compiled by analyzing the ratings and reviews submitted by members of the review community throughout the year,” the release said. “We use our Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course’s weighted subcategory averages.

To be eligible, courses must offer public access and have received at least one review in 2020.

“It takes a lot of hard work from a lot of people to maintain a course and I think this just proves what I’ve always said, which is that our guys do an outstanding job here,” said Gary Wilson, the KGC pro. “We’ve always been proud of our course and this justifies that in a way.”

The course is currently undergoing improvements, which includes extending the eighth hole, including a new green, and a complete replacement of the green on the seventh hole.

The top-10 rated courses were:

1. Arrowhead State Park Golf Course, Canadian

2. Forest Ridge Golf Club, Broken Arrow

3. Deer Valley Golf Club, Kansas
