KHS announces April Students of the Month

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for April 2021.

Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.

Selected by the faculty and staff were freshman Emmy Lunsford, sophomore Maddox Mecklenburg, junior James Perdue and senior Kaycee Karcher.

Lunsford is the daughter of Kenny and Meggan Lunsford.

She is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society.

She is active on the KHS track and cross country teams.

Lunsford was part of the regional champion cross country team that also placed third at state.

She is active in Student Council where she currently serves as freshman class representative.

Lunsford is a member of the Federated Church.

Mecklenburg is the son of Justin and Lyndy Mecklenburg.

He is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned the 4.0 Award.

Mecklenburg is active in Student Council and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He is also a member of the KHS basketball and track teams.

He was a part of the 2021 Class 4A state champion basketball team that was also named the 2021 Class 4A boys academic state champion.

Perdue is the son of Jim and Debra Perdue.

He is a member of both the Oklahoma Honor Society and the National Honor Society.

Perdue has served as freshman class vice president, sophomore class president and junior class president.

He is an active member of the Kingfisher FFA Chapter where he has served as treasurer and vice president.

He was also a member of the state winning ag issues forum team in 2018.

Perdue is also a member of the KHS baseball team and is active in Student Council and 4-H.

He has been a Kingfisher County 4-H Ambassador for four years and was the 2020-2021 inductee into the Kingfisher County 4-H Hall of Fame.

He was a delegate to the 4-H National Western Roundup Conference in Denver in 2018 as well as the Citizenship Washington Focus trip in Washington D.C. in 2019.

Perdue was the Northwest District 4-H high individual and overall senior trap shooter in 2020.

He will be a delegate to Oklahoma Boys State this summer and is also a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul youth group.

Karcher is the daughter of Jaramie and Billee Karcher.

She is a senior class valedictorian and has been listed on the both Superintendent’s Honor and Principal’s Honor Roll.

She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society.

Karcher played both slowpitch softball and fastpitch softball for KHS.

She was named to the all-conference softball team and was named all-district softball honorable mention.

Karcher was selected as junior class favorite and is currently serving as senior class secretary.

She was also an Oklahoma Girls State delegate and is a member of the Kingfisher Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
