KHS band ‘excellent’ at regional
Kingfisher High School’s band was “excellent” Wednesday and has the scores to prove it.
The Pride of Kingfisher earned “excellent” ratings from all three judges in the OSSAA’s northwest regional marching competition held at Enid High School.
The competition featured bands from 2A, 3A and 4A-sized schoools.
The Pride played its “Rock Royalty Show” for its performance.
It included “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley, “We Will Rock You” by Queen and “Beat It” by Michael Jackson.
Director Mandy Owens said this year’s motto has been “Grace and flexibility.”
She said both virtues have been put to work.
“I was so pleased with how the kids marched today,” said Owens. “It has been a wild marching season in this year of COVID. I’m just so grateful we were able to go to the contest.”
Band members taking part were Ximena Agundiz, Hannah Click, Katy Diedrich, Erica Jenkins, Wayde Barrios, Kemper Britton, Ana Cuellar, Syra Littlehawk, J.W. Struck, Clayton Weinmeister, Brenden Hill, Michael Johnson, Blake Mayfield, London Willson, Destiny Buckner, Landon Eaton, Achilles Branson, Zoe Yandell, Brody Boden, Dawson Diedrich, Coleman Kitchens, Kaden Miller, Andrew Osborn and Benton Sauer.
