Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for September 2019.

Selected by the teachers were freshman Cash Slezickey, sophomore Laney Banther, junior Kase Simon and senior Harrison Themer.

Students are chosen based on many characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness and more.

Slezickey is the son of Dave and Melissa Slezickey.

He is on the superintendent’s honor roll and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society. He received the Masonic Student of Today award in eighth grade.

Slezickey plays basketball and baseball and is an active member of student council.

Banther is the daughter of Dennis and Anne Banther.

She is involved in photography at school. She has volunteered at the Oklahoma Food Bank and has been a reader at the Center of Family Love.

She is also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche.

Simon is the son of Chris and Michele Simon.

He is a member of National Honor Society, student council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Simon plays basketball and tennis and was on the 2019 Class 4A basketball state championship team. He is also a member of the Church of the Nazarene youth group.

Themer is the son of Dennis and Tammy Them-er.

He is a National Merit Semifinalist, a two-time National FFA champion and an eight-time state FFA champion.

He currently serves as the student body president, National Honor Society vice president and FFA chapter reporter.

Themer is also a member of student council, Oklahoma Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the KHS varsity basketball team.

He was a member of both the 2018 Class 4A basketball state runner-up and the 2019 Class 4A basketball state championship teams.
