One of the first orders of business for the new Kingfisher Public Schools superintendent will be to hire a high school principal.

Todd Overstreet last Wednesday was hired as the principal at Watonga High School.

He’s currently completing his seventh year at KHS after being hired away from Laverne in 2014.

“I really enjoyed my time here and have seen a lot of successes academically and athletically,” Overstreet said.

“Watonga is a great opportunity for me to grow personally and professionally and I look forward to the opportunity to work there.”

Overstreet is the second KPS administrator to announce his departure this spring.

Superintendent Jason Sternberger previously accepted the same position at Hennessey.

The search for his predecessor is ongoing by the Kingfisher Board of Education.

Board members met in executive session for 3 1/2 hours last Tuesday, during which two candidates were interviewed.

Special meetings were also held Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Monday’s meeting featured one interview as the board met for three hours total.

Tuesday’s meeting (after press time) was slated to have two candidates interviewed.

Overstreet was one of six hires during Watonga’s special meeting.

Those hires included a new superintendent, Kyle Hilterbran.
