KHS selects November students of the month
Teachers name Sanders, Daugherty, Purintun, Hartman to top honors
Four Kingfisher High School students have been named Students of the Month for November: Sarah Sanders, senior; Ian Daugherty, junior; Sydney Purintun, sophomore, and Ivy Hartman, freshman.
Teachers choose students of the month based on characteristics including responsibility, leadership, work ethic, reliability, kindness, and more.
Sarah Sanders is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Sanders.
She is active in KHS drama and the Pride of Kingfisher Band and Jazz Band.
She is a member of the Mercy Student Careers Council, Oklahoma Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Sarah is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, has received the 4.0 Award, and she was a Girls’ State Delegate.
Ian Daugherty is the son of Derek and Micah Daugherty.
He is listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, is active in Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball and baseball, and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and the National Honor Society.
In 2018, Ian received Little All City Honorable Mention and All State Honorable Mention in baseball.
In 2019, he was named to the Little All City fi rst team and All City Prep fi rst team in baseball.
Sydney Purintun is the daughter of Stuart and Stacey Purintun.
She is listed on the principal’s honor roll and participated in the leadership program at University of Central Oklahoma.
Sydney was also named Student of the Month her freshman year. She is active in Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Sydney participates in KHS cross country and track and serves as a manager for the football and basketball teams.
Ivy Hartman is the daughter of Chad and Leah Hartman.
She was a member of the FFA Conduct of Chapter Meetings team that was named State Champion in 2019 and then placed third at the national convention.
She also received an award for earning a perfect Conduct of Chapter Meetings test score at the national convention.
Ivy was named Kingfisher Middle School’s outstanding eighth grade student for 2018-19 and placed second at the AFR speech contest in 2018.
She is currently a junior varsity basketball manager and is active in Student Council, FCA, and the Kingfisher FBC Elevate Youth Group.
