KHS underdog at district duals
Dual state road goes through powerhouse Tuttle
Kingfisher will be considered a longshot Thursday in its bid to return to the dual state wrestling championships.
Duals will be held in Tuttle that day to determine the District 4A-2 champ and the qualifi er for dual state.
Joining KHS and the host Tigers are Anadarko and Southeast.
The Jackets (at press time) were the only team in the district without a dual under their belts. Two previously-scheduled duals (Weatherford and Woodward) were cancelled.
Anadarko was 3-1 and Southeast 0-1 in their listed duals.
However, it’s Tuttle that enters as the overwhelming favorite.
The Tigers are 5-0 and are ranked No. 1 in 4A in both the dual and tournament rankings.
Tuttle earned 18 of the 19 first-place votes. Third-ranked Cushing received the only other fi rst-place vote.
The Tigers have dominated 4A for the last decade. They’ve won 10 straight dual state titles and 11 consecutive traditional state tournament championships.
Thursday’s duals, during which each team will compete three times, are set to begin at noon.
