Kingfisher’s chamber saw record member growth in 2020, Lions told

Shauna Rupp, Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce executive director, told Kingfisher Lions Club members that 2020 was a year of record growth in membership.

Speaking at the club’s weekly Thursday luncheon meeting, Rupp also told of plans for 2021 and related her excitement concerning commercial activity in the community.

She said construction of the Kingfisher Visitors Center at the northeast corner of the U.S. Highway 81 and State Highway 33 intersection was going well and she planned for the chamber office to be moved to that location before the end of the year.

“That is a tremendous location for visibility for visitors to our community and we look for foot traffic to pick up greatly once we’re there,” she said.

She added that her focus at the chamber has been inclusion.

“We don’t just talk about it; we really do try to make sure our members are as engaged to the degree they want to be and completely understand that their chamber dues are at work for them and their financial future in Kingfisher,” she said.

The chamber is open to new and different ideas and suggestions, Rupp added, and she encouraged everyone who wanted to “talk about it” to call, e-mail, text or drop in for a visit.

Rupp said new for 2021 was the addition of a parttime assistant, Tiffany Jones, which has allowed Rupp more freedom to go outside the office to visit members and attend meetings during business hours.

“I absolutely love my job. It’s really my dream job. I can’t wait to share the excitement of our vision and plans for our community,” Rupp said.

“Come see me any time. Kingfisher is what I love talking about and we have plenty to share and we’re open to suggestions.”
