Kingfisher’s Overstreet, Myers compete in 2020 OGA Stroke Play Championship
Kingfisher’s Mason Overstreet tied for 10th and Heath Myers was right behind him after the completion of last week’s Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship.
Overstreet shot a threeday-total of 212, which was 4-under-par overall, at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan.
Myers tied for 12th with his 213.
Myers won the 2019 Stroke Play Championship when it was played at Oak Tree Country Club.
“I hit the ball pretty well, but I just didn’t have a good week of putting,” said Myers, who opened the tournament Monday with a 1-over-par 73.
He came back Tuesday to shoot a 69 and then finished with a 71.
Overstreet was under-par all three days with a pair of 71s sandwiching a Tuesday 70.
Oklahoma State University sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, a Denmark native, won the event with a 202.
Edmond’s Carson Tewell was runner-up for the second straight year with his 205.
Jenks’ James Roller had the two-day lead, but shot a 74 in his final round to shoot a 206.
Myers has also won two of OGA’s other premier events: The Spring 4-Ball with teammate Scott Kedy in 2017 and the Mid-Amateur in 2018.
Overstreet played earlier this summer in the Junior Masters at Southern Hills Country Club.
After three weeks off, he’ll play for three straight weeks culminating with the Western Amateur set for July 27-Aug. 1 at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
