June sales tax checks for municipalities and counties were higher for the state and the city of Kingfisher and Kingfisher County but were down for other towns in the county and several other neighboring municipalities.

Kingfisher received a June sales tax check of $518,512.47 which was 48.6 percent higher than its June 2018 check.

It marked the second month in a row that Kingfisher had received a half-million dollar sales tax check.

Kingfisher received a $576,670.78 check in May.

Kingfisher County was credited with a 37.8 percent jump in its June 2019 check – $1,067,118.30 compared to $774,614.33 a year earlier.

The June distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from April business.  Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.  

The monies they reported this period represent sales from April 16 to April 30 and estimated sales from May 1 to May 15.

The June 2019 disbursement of $158,178,686 in sales tax collections returned to cities and towns reflected an increase of $8,668,099 from the $149,510,587 distributed to the cities and towns in June last year.  The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $19,932,632.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $27,894,905 disbursement of sales tax and $4,104,802 in use taxes.

The following list includes new sales and use tax rates for cities, towns and counties and their effective dates.

Use tax checks were up and down for area cities but Kingfisher County received a $169,173.98 use tax check compared to $132,589.93 a year ago.

Use tax is collected on purchases made out-of-town or county and delivered within the entities. Use tax rates are the same as an entity’s sales tax rate.
