Kingfisher County OHCE holds Spring Council

Kingfisher County OHCE members met for their annual Spring Council meeting on March 5 at Chisholm Trail Museum in Kingfisher. Good Timers OHCE served as the host group.

Doris Brehm, County OHCE president, presided over the business meeting. Christine Larsen, county vice president, conducted the flag salute and OHCE Creed.

The minutes were led by Camilla Sample, county secretary. Kristina Mueggenborg, county treasurer submitted the treasurer’s report.

The Standards of Excellence Award is presented annually to OHCE groups for their involvement in various community projects and for their achievement at the Kingfisher County Fair. The award is sponsored by the Kingfisher County Fair Board.

Surprise OHCE won first place for the award and Omega OHCE was second.

In the secretary’s book competition, first place honors went to Surprise, second place was presented to Plainview, third place to Hennessey Farmerettes and Happy Homemakers was fourth.

Thefirstplacescrapbook was awarded to Hennessey Farmerettes and second place went to Surprise.

Tammy Gallo presented the classes she teaches at the Vernie Snow Aquatic Center. She told the group about some new exercises and how they benefit the body. She discussed how water is a healthy and fun environment for physical therapy.

Lindy Hoel, FCS Extension educator, presented several workshops including the upcoming barn quilt workshop in April, monthly cooking workshops, arthritis exercise program, and hosting the district meeting for 2020.

After the meeting was adjourned, the groups took part in pictures, conversations, and learning more about the projects and programs that are coming up.
