Kingfisher Elks donate $2,500 to KPS programs

Elks Lodges across the nation boast the “Elks Care, Elks Share” motto and the Kingfisher lodge recently offered proof. Kingfisher Elks Lodge 2416 recently donated $2,500 to various departments within the Kingfisher Public Schools district. On the right are several members donating $500 to the KHS football program after feeding the team prior to a recent game. Pictured are, from left: Exalted Ruler Dennis Mueggenborg, KEWAs President Kathy Mueggenborg, KHS head coach Jeff Myers, Elks treasurer Brenda Keene, coach Stan Blundell, Lodge manager Angie Phillips, coach Derek Patterson, Elks secretary Crystal Ludwig and coach Stuart Purintun. Dennis Mueggenborg and Keene also made presentations to Kingfisher Superintendent Jason Sternberger. One donation was for $1,500 that was deposited in the school’s Guardian Angel Activity account. Sternberger said that account is used to buy supplies and other necessities for students in need. Another $500 was donated that the district will use to help fund Red Ribbon Week, which is a drug, alcohol, tobacco and violence prevention awareness campaign. The Kingfisher Elks Lodge was able to make the donations after applying for and receiving $2,500 in “Gratitude Grants” through the Elks National Foundation’s Community Investments Program.
