The Kingfisher FFA Chapter had another successful outing recently under the guidance of new FFA advisers Megan Thormodsgard and Tyler Gradert at the National FFA Leadership Development Events (LDE).

The competitions were held in conjunction with the 92nd National FFA Convention and Expo held Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Conduct of Chapter Meetings team placed third in its contest.

Team members were Katon Lunsford, Allison Themer, Caden Kitchens, Dustyn McLean, Ivy Hartman, Leyla Avila and Mayce Gibson.

In the event, participants took a written exam prior to the start of the contest.

Team members then gave performances and answered questions in each round exhibiting their knowledge of basic parliamentary procedure and FFA meetings.

Lunsford and Ivy Hartman were the sole members who earned a perfect score on the written test in the event.

Kingfisher also received the highest team test score average.

Kingfi sher’s Parliamentary Procedure team also had success at the national contest.

It was a semifi nalist team that also earned a Gold Chapter Award.

Members were Elizabeth Perdue, Harrison Themer, Jentry Squires, Maxwell Hartman, Victoria Gerken and Braden Burns.

The parliamentary procedure event started with a written exam and a minutes practicum over content found in Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised.

This was followed by a mock meeting and oral questions in each round.

Themer earned a perfect score on the written exam, one of only two such scores among 256 participants.

All six Kingfi sher FFA members passed the exam to become accredited parliamentarians.

Finally, Kingfi sher High School graduate Lane Dobrovolny was a national finalist in his Landscape Management profi ciency.

Dobrovolny earned this honor through his record-keeping for his self-run business, Lane’s Lawn Service.
