Kingfisher, Hennessey, Loyal, Dover sales tax checks bigger
Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover and Loyal had larger sales tax checks for May.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission, which handles collections of sales tax for cities, towns and counties as well as for the state of Oklahoma, provided the data for the May report.
While Kingfisher, Hennessey and Dover had increases per penny of tax collected, Loyal’s hike came because it raised its rate to 4 percent from 2 percent.
It’s check based on per penny of tax collected was slightly lower than in May 2018. The May distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from March business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from March 16 to March 31 and estimated sales from April 1 to April 15.
