Kingfisher, Loyal see July boost

Sales tax checks smaller for all other county towns

July sales tax checks were lower for all Kingfisher County towns except Loyal and Kingfisher.

Loyal received an $8,192.87 check this month, based on a 4 percent rate, compared to a $1,451.44 check in July, 2018, based on a 2 percent tax rate.

Based on tax collected per penny of tax rate Loyal had a 181.5 percent increase.

Kingfisher received $434,397.28 in July compared to $419,032.84 in July last year, a 3.7 percent increase.

Kingfisher County’s check based on a 1.25 percent tax rate dropped by 38 percent this July, totaling $925,157.67 this month compared with $1,493,347.91 a year earlier.

The July distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, which handles sales tax revenue for municipalities and counties as well as the state, primarily represents local tax receipts from May business.  

Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from May 16 to May 31 and estimated sales from June 1 to June 15.

The disbursement of $158,864,212 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $768,194 from the $159,632,406 distributed to the cities and towns in July last year.  The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $20,149,421.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $28,521,962 sales tax disbursement and a $3,961,072 use tax disbursement.

Use tax check comparisons for selected area towns plus Kingfisher County follow with the July 2019 amount listed first:

Cashion – $5,025.88 and $3,739.01, up $1,286.67

Dover – $1,958.65 and $1,559.17, up $399.51.

Hennessey – $11,945.57 and $12,265.01, down $319.44.

Kingfisher – $30,819.63 and $25,240.51, up $5,579.12.

Okarche – $18,837.67 and $25,696.75, down $6,859.08.

Kingfisher County –$183,883.12 and $183, 945.06, down $61.94.

Crescent – $4,044.29 and $5,667.61, down $1,623.32.

Watonga – $97,912.16 and $16,984.17, up $80,927.99.
