Kingfisher, Loyal show only April tax increases in county
Only Kingfisher and Loyal in Kingfisher County had increases in sales tax checks for April.
Kingfisher’s tax check for April totaled $491,264.16, up from $404,181.06 from April 2018. Loyal’s check rose to $6,971.86 derived from a 4 percent tax this April compared to $2,626.10 from a 2 percent tax collected in 2018.
Although most town’s and the county’s checks were somewhat smaller than a year ago, they still reflected the county’s healthy oil field activity and were significantly larger than before the oil boom’s arrival.
The April distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Feb. 16 to Feb. 28 and estimated sales from March 1 to March 15.
The tax commission collects and distributes sales tax for state municipalities and counties in addition to handling the tax for the state government.
The April disbursement of $147,825,459 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $4,778,152 from the $143,047,307 distributed to the cities and towns in April last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $18,813,307.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $26,326,198 sales tax disbursement and a $4,614,102 use tax disbursement.

Cashion –$5,903.27 and $4,324.25.
Dover – $1,975.40 and $1,331.41.
Hennessey – $12,375.33 and $6,849.26.
Kingfisher – $52,892.72 and $36,279.07.
